About the role

Overview

Overseeing the Manufacturing Site HSE teams in the implementation of HSE Management systems and initiatives through a range of engagement and training activities. Upskilling the Site HSE Teams in technical ability and coaching in delivering a proactive, value add service to the business with joint ownership of action to improve performance.

Key Duties
  • Develop and maintaining good professional cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders to provide competent support and guidance.
  • Keep HSE best practice, legal knowledge and professional status up to date - Maintain IOSH CPD and provide technical HSE expertise to ensure legal compliance.
  • Liaise with the Regulatory bodies, Insurance providers and other external stakeholders in ensuring legal compliance and best practice is consistently achieved across all operations.
  • Ensure objectives, targets and comprehensive improvement plans are in place with action close out supported in driving improvements in HSE performance and incident reduction.
  • Develop and promote the group HSE capability improvement programme, including a range of internal Management workshops delivered by the HSE Team, development of eLearning programmes and the coordination of external providers where required.
  • Develop and implement technical content as required for Group Management Standards and risk control procedures.
  • Day to day Management of Manufacturing Site HSE Teams and coaching in personal development, creating an ethos of pride in a value added, proactive professional service.
  • Coach colleagues on workplace inspections, risk assessment and incident investigations to ensure robust quality and timely delivery.
  • Challenge and coach all colleagues on unsafe acts, systems and procedures in line with the group Behavioural based safety program.
  • Facilitate serious accident investigation and Senior Management Reviews, ensuring key learnings from serious accidents and any subsequent changes in process / safe systems of work are effectively communicated.
  • Ensure Group requirements for records and reporting are adhered to with Group Incident logs updated in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the preparation and communication of Group Health & Safety Updates
  • Ensure the required health surveillance program is coordinated effectively and any follow up action swiftly taken
  • Manage all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy.
About you
  • Proven record for managing a team in delivering performance improvements.
  • Experience of coordinating a training programme
  • Experience delivering change management through strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Operational experience.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management processes, principles and methodologies
  • Graduate level qualifications in an HSE discipline e.g. NEBOSH, OTHM
  • Chartered Membership with a Professional body e.g. The Institute of Occupational Safety & Health
  • Foundation level qualification in environmental Management e.g. IEMA
  • Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence
  • Project Management experience
