Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (Building Services) – Cambridge An SME building services firm, known for its exceptionally high staff retention, is looking to appoint a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join their team, based in Cambridge. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a few years' experience to work across a varied portfolio of building services projects, playing a hands-on role in design and delivery within a close-knit, supportive team environment where people tend to stay for the long term. The Role: Producing mechanical or electrical designs across a range of building services projects Preparing detailed designs, calculations, and specifications Working closely with project managers, senior engineers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification Coordinating with architects and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated designs Ensuring designs comply with current building regulations and industry standardsWhat's Required: A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent) 3+ years' experience in a building services design role Strong working knowledge of relevant design software (e.g. Revit, AutoCAD) Chartered status (or working towards, e.g. CIBSE/IET) would be an advantage Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesWhat's on Offer: Salary of £40,000–£55,000, dependent on experience The opportunity to work within a close-knit SME, with hands-on exposure across the full project lifecycle A genuinely supportive team culture reflected in the firm's high staff retention Genuine progression opportunitiesBased in Cambridge, this role would suit an engineer looking to settle into a long-term role with a firm that values technical excellence and a collaborative working culture.
