About the role
Mechanical Fitter / Assembly Technician
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter / Assembly Technician to support the delivery, maintenance, and continuous improvement of complex engineering systems within a highly regulated advanced technology environment in the South East.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the assembly, preparation, maintenance, and modification of precision mechanical components and systems. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced Mechanical Technicians and Fitters to support ongoing operational and project activities.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and prepare mechanical components in accordance with technical drawings, engineering documentation, and process procedures.
Support the maintenance, improvement, and modification of mechanical equipment and systems.
Carry out practical engineering and assembly activities to a high standard of accuracy and quality.
Follow written safe systems of work, method statements, and quality assurance procedures.
Perform a broad range of general mechanical fitting and workshop duties with minimal supervision.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely completion of engineering tasks.
Assist with documenting processes, procedures, maintenance, installation, and testing activities.
Handle fragile and complex equipment using appropriate care, techniques, and engineering practices.
Contribute to a positive working culture that promotes safety, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements
Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification.
Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings.
Good understanding of quality assurance processes and associated documentation.
Experience working under written safe systems of work and/or method statements.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Knowledge of vacuum systems, vacuum technology, and associated good practice.
Experience or understanding of industrial cooling systems and related engineering practices.
