We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Work Practitioner to join the Assessment and Safeguarding Team in Gateshead . This full-time locum position offers a competitive rate of £31.74 per hour over an initial 3-month contract . What you will do:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of children, young people, and families to identify safeguarding concerns and assess levels of risk.
Develop, implement, and review child-centred plans that promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including health, education, police, and other professionals, to coordinate effective support and safeguarding interventions.
Provide expert advice, guidance, and mentoring to less experienced social workers, supporting high standards of practice.
Manage complex safeguarding cases, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities, legislation, and local procedures.
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records, assessments, and reports in line with organisational policies and professional standards.
