About the role
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Audiologist to join the Audiology Department at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. The role involves delivering specialist audiology services to adults and children with hearing difficulties, conducting comprehensive diagnostic assessments, and providing evidence-based interventions tailored to individual patient needs. You will manage complex caseloads, support patients and families throughout their care journey, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams including ENT, Speech and Language Therapy, Central Appointments, and other Audiology services. The role also includes supervising and supporting clinical staff, maintaining high clinical standards, and contributing to service development.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct otoscopic examinations to assess the ear canal and tympanic membrane, identifying abnormalities and arranging appropriate referrals when required.
* Perform and interpret a range of diagnostic assessments, including:
* Pure Tone Audiometry
* Acoustic Admittance and Reflex Measurements
* Speech Audiometry
* Oto-Acoustic Emissions (OAE) testing
* Take accurate aural impressions for ear moulds and custom hearing protection.
* Interpret clinical findings and recommend appropriate management plans in line with service protocols.
* Identify cases requiring escalation and coordinate onward referrals to ensure patient safety and continuity of care.
* Deliver audiology services across hospital, community, and outreach settings.
* Organise and coordinate community-based clinics, managing schedules, resources, and documentation.
* Maintain and update departmental procedures, protocols, and working practices to support quality improvement and compliance.
* Participate in specialist training and professional development to enhance clinical expertise and expand service provision.
* Provide supervision, training, and day-to-day support for colleagues and junior staff.

Essential Requirements
* Recognised Audiology qualification or equivalent experience.
* HCPC or RCCP registration.
* Experience in diagnostic audiology and hearing aid services.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
* Paediatric audiology experience.
* Postgraduate qualifications or additional specialist training.
