Senior Estimator in Aberdeen

Kenton Black are recruiting for a permanent Senior Estimator position in Aberdeenshire.

Our client, a well-established and highly respected civil engineering contractor with a strong presence across Scotland, is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their commercial team. This permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in the bid and tendering process across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil engineering and construction projects
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to fully understand project requirements
• Manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to submission and handover
• Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing
• Identify project risks and opportunities, providing clear recommendations to senior management
• Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to develop robust and competitive tender submissions
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders
• Support and mentor junior estimating staff where required
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes

What You Bring

• Proven experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator role within civil engineering or construction
• Strong understanding of pricing methodologies, cost planning, and tendering processes
• Experience working with a main contractor environment
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office packages
• Relevant qualification in construction, engineering, or a related discipline ()
