Electrical Design & Controls Engineer
- Location: Oxfordshire / Gloucestershire borders (Thriving High-Tech Hubs)
- Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Private Health (inc. Dental/Optical), Life Cover, and 25 Days Holiday
- Work Pattern: 5 days on-site (Hands-on engineering environment)

The Opportunity
We have partnered with a powerhouse in Smart Manufacturing and Machine Vision that is redefining factory automation for the world’s leading aerospace, automotive, and medical device companies. Backed by a major PLC technology group, they combine advanced AI inspection systems with world-class metrology to build cutting-edge industrial machinery.
Due to a massive pipeline of global projects, they are looking for a keen Electrical Design & Controls Engineer who loves a blend of desk-based CAD design and hands-on system commissioning.
The Role
- Electrical CAD Design: Utilising AutoCAD Electrical to design control systems, panel layouts, terminal plans, and wiring schematics to EU standards.
- Control System Architecture: Creating technical specifications, process flow diagrams, and planning PLC/controls programming.
- Hands-on Integration: Assisting with the physical build process, panel wiring, and electrical testing of new machinery to ensure flawless execution.
- Commissioning: Troubleshooting electrical issues during the build and supporting field engineers during on-site integration.
What We Are Looking For
The Essentials:
- 3+ Years of Industry Experience: Proven track record in industrial automation, special-purpose machinery, or control systems.
- Electrical CAD Expertise: 3+ years of experience designing panel layouts and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical (or a similar specialised package).
- Industrial Automation Knowledge: A solid grasp of electrical control gear, machinery safety standards, and communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, IO-Link).
- The "Hands-on" Mindset: A logical problem solver who is enthusiastic about stepping away from the desk to help with testing, wiring, and commissioning.
The Nice-to-Haves:
- A degree (2.1 or above) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Foundational knowledge of robotics integration.
