Housing Officer – Birmingham Patch (Remote / Hybrid Considered)
Contract: 6–12 Months (Temporary)
We are currently partnering with a well-established Housing Association to recruit an experienced Housing Officer for a contract role covering the Birmingham area. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and resident-focused housing professional who is confident managing tenancies and delivering high-quality housing services across a busy urban patch.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a designated patch of tenancies, ensuring effective housing management from tenancy sign-up through to termination
* Deal with a wide range of housing management issues including tenancy breaches, ASB, rent arrears, estate management, and neighbour disputes
* Carry out tenancy visits, property inspections, and estate walkabouts (remote working with occasional site visits across Birmingham)
* Investigate complaints and resolve tenancy-related issues in a fair, timely, and professional manner
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and external agencies including local authorities, police, and support services
* Support tenancy sustainment and contribute to reducing evictions and tenancy failure
* Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with housing legislation, policies, and procedures
Key Requirements
* Proven experience working as a Housing Officer, Neighbourhood Officer, or similar role within a Housing Association or Local Authority
* Strong understanding of housing legislation, tenancy management, and best practice within the sector
* Experience dealing with tenancy enforcement, ASB, and rent arrears (highly desirable)
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage a busy caseload independently and prioritise effectively
* Comfortable working remotely with occasional travel across the Birmingham patch
* Immediate or short notice availability is highly desirable
