The role of the Allotment Co-ordinator/ Skilled Gardner will be undertaken by a single member of the LM Contractors team working core hours Monday to Friday between 07:00hrs – 15:30hrs all year round. The postholder will be required to spend 50% of their time supporting general HRT duties across key horticultural areas of the park and the other 50% of their time lead gardening at the allotment which will include supporting a small team of TRP volunteers. All works the postholder undertakes will be directed by TRP’s Head Gardener but will be managed by the HRT Chargehand. TRP’s Volunteer Manager and Assistant Park Manager will support work related to allotment volunteers. For some weeks in the year the actual split of time spent for each specific duty may shift a little but the balance over time must equate to the 50% split described. The postholder must be a highly skilled and competent horticulturist as well as a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills to oversee the work of volunteer.
1. Maintain the allotment gardens to an excellent standard.
2. Implement the growing plan and develop future garden plans, with the volunteers.
3. Ensure all supplies and seeds are ordered through the appropriate channels.
4. Supervise and support volunteers, including organising sessions and recording attendance. Communicate with volunteers via email and phone where needed, to ensure they remain informed.
5. Lead volunteer sessions to support and grow their allotment knowledge, ensuring a consistently high standard of delivery.
6. Through collaboration with the HNT and engagement teams, support delivery of public engagement activities such as open days and outreach to engage local people in the allotments.
7. Liaise regularly with The Royal Parks and Capel Manor College on site staff regarding site management and session delivery. xwzovoh
8. Work safely on site in accordance with the TRP risk assessments, policies and procedures.
9. Work within the HRT team for 50% of their team following the directive of the TRP Head Gardener and LMC Charge Hand
