Software & Configuration Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a Software & Configuration Engineer to support the delivery of vehicle projects across development, production, and aftersales. This role plays a critical part in ensuring ECU software, hardware, and configuration are correctly specified, released, and maintained to enable vehicle build and ongoing updates.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure software readiness, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support delivery of vehicle projects, focusing on ECU hardware, software, and configuration
Manage and release software and configuration files for production and aftersales environments
Ensure correct software release levels across engineering toolchains and configuration systems
Support the creation and release of full software baselines for R&D (pre-series), production, and aftersales
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure timely project delivery
Track and report project status, risks, and issues
Analyse and resolve engineering and configuration-related problems using structured methodologies
Contribute to continuous improvement and optimisation of processes
What We're Looking For
Experience in software configuration, release management, or systems engineering
Understanding of ECU systems, automotive software, or embedded systems
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Good communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Awareness of cost, quality, and project delivery targets
Desirable Skills
Experience with automotive software toolchains and configuration systems
Knowledge of software baselining and release processes
Experience working with suppliers in a technical environment
