SEND Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary School - Colchester
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND teaching assistant to join our successful three form entry mainstream primary school in Colchester. The Role
As a SEND teaching assistant, you will support pupils with a range of special educational needs within a mainstream primary setting. You may work on a one-to-one basis with a specific pupil or provide support to a small group of children, helping them access learning and achieve their individual targets.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils with SEND during lessons and school activities
Delivering targeted interventions and small group support sessions
Working closely with class teachers to adapt learning activities and resources
Encouraging pupils' confidence, independence, and participation in learning
Supporting social, emotional, and behavioural development
Assisting pupils in overcoming barriers to learning
Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff
Helping to create an inclusive and positive classroom environment
Contributing to high standards of education and training across the school
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEND setting
Is patient, adaptable, and resilient
Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
Is committed to helping children achieve their full potential
Has a genuine passion for education and training
Hours and Pay
Full-time position, 5 days per week
Working hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Daily rate: £95-£100 per day, dependent on experience
