Yard Operative Forklift Driver

YARD OPERATIVE Location: Scunthorpe Job Time: Temp to Perm Salary: £13.00 Shifts: Flexible Shifts About the Role: To support the efficient running of the yard by safely handling, storing, and moving materials, ensuring the site remains organised, compliant, and fully operational at all times. This includes operating a forklift truck to safely transport and position steel within the yard. Key Responsibilities: * Operate a forklift truck to safely move steel, fabricated parts, and materials around the site * Load and unload deliveries of steel and fabrication components * Supply materials to welders and fabricators as required * Assist with the movement and positioning of large or heavy steel sections * Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard and fabrication area * Follow all health & safety procedures, particularly around welding and fabrication activities * Carry out routine checks on lifting equipment and report any faults * Support basic preparation tasks such as cleaning or organising materials for welding * Assist with stock control and ensure materials are stored correctly * Work closely with fabrication and welding teams to support production deadlines Requirements: * Valid forklift licence (Counterbalance essential) * Previous experience working in a yard, fabrication, or welding environment * Experience handling steel or heavy materials * Good understanding of health & safety practices, particularly around machinery and welding areas * Ability to work in a physically demanding, outdoor environment * Strong teamwork skills and ability to support fabrication/welding teams * Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours * Basic communication skills and ability to follow instructions * Willingness to carry out general yard and manual duties as required s93 About Us We are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive community.
