The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join a major project.
This role will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of key subcontractors, ensuring contractual obligations are administered effectively and that all commercial matters are managed proactively throughout project execution.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in subcontract administration, payment assessment, variation management, claims handling, and maintaining robust project records. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and subcontractors in a fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of subcontractor commercial and contractual activities.
- Develop and maintain effective systems for project record keeping and contract administration.
- Work closely with site-based teams to ensure contractual events, additional works, and project delays are accurately recorded and documented.
- Review and assess subcontractor applications for payment.
- Evaluate and manage subcontractor variations, compensation events, and claims.
- Authorise additional works in accordance with contractual requirements and project controls.
- Support the management of commercial risk through proactive contract administration.
- Liaise with project stakeholders regarding subcontractor performance and contractual matters.
- Assist in the preparation and management of project-related claims and entitlement submissions.
- Attend site and project meetings as required.
About You
You are likely to come from a Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Contracts Management background and will have experience administering large subcontract packages on construction, engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or project-based environments.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience managing subcontractors on a day-to-day basis.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial management principles.
- Experience reviewing payment applications, variations, and contractual claims.
- Ability to identify, record, and manage commercial impacts arising from project changes or delays.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working closely with operational or site-based teams.
- Background in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Contract Management.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on large-scale or complex projects.
- Familiarity with standard forms of contract such as NEC, FIDIC, JCT, or similar. xwzovoh
- Experience supporting dispute avoidance and claims preparation.
