About the role

TemporaryAccommodationOfficerAllocateavarietyoftemporaryaccommodationunitsincludingemergencyaccommodation,andcontrolandconductallactivitiesleadingtoadmissionsanddischargeswhereappropriateinordertoachievethemostefficientandeconomicuseofaccommodationavailable.

TemporaryAccommodationOfficerMinimisetheinappropriateuseofsharedaccommodationforfamilieswithchildrenandensurethatallclientsareeffectivelytracked,monitoredandmovedonfromtemporaryaccommodationwhereappropriate.

TemporaryAccommodationOfficerEffectivelyliaisewithandmanagethedaytodayrelationshipswithemergencyaccommodationprovidersandoutofhoursservices,providingadviceandmonitoringtheirperformanceinthemosteffectiveuseoftemporaryaccommodationstock.

TemporaryAccommodationOfficerProactivelyworkonacaseworkbasiswithalltemporaryaccommodationresidentsoccupyingleased,hostels,directlets,B&BandAnnexeplacementsandallothertypesoftemporaryaccommodationtoassistthemtomoveonfromtemporaryaccommodation.CloselymonitorandtrackhouseholdsoccupyingTAtoensurethattheyneedsarefullyassessedandmetintheprovisionofaccommodationandensurehouseholdsarepromptlymovedononcetheCouncilsdutyhasended.Beresponsibleforensuringcaseworkrecordsandhousingapplicationdetailsforresidentsareuptodateandaccurate.

Responsiblefordealingwithallcomplaints,emergencies,tenancyandAntiSocialBehaviourissuestakingpromptandremedialeffectiveactionandenforcementand/orinstigatinglegalinstructionasnecessary;providingadviceandsupportasrequired.

OverseethedaytodayrelationshipswithTAprovidersandcloselymanageandmonitorthecontractualarrangementsandtheirperformanceensuringpromptandappropriateactionsaretakentoaddressnoncompliancewithcontractualmanagementarrangementsandtoimproveperformance

TemporaryAccommodationOfficerConductvisitstopropertiesasrequiredtoensurepropertystandardsaremaintainedandoccupancyisverified;toaddressissueslikecomplaints,disrepairASBetcandtoensurepropertystandardsaremaintainedsothattheycomplywithhealthandsafetyregulationsandlegislativerequirements;takingpromptandeffectiveactiontoaddressanyfailuresanddisrepairissues.

TemporaryAccommodationOfficerTocarryoutthedutiesofthepostinaccordancewiththeDataProtectionAct,theHealth&SafetyatWorkActandotherrelevantlegislation,aswellasCouncilpolicies,procedures,StandingOrdersandFinancialRegulations.

EffectivelymanagetheCouncilsvariedportfoliooftemporaryaccommodation(includingleased,hostels,directlets,B&BandAnnexeplacementsandallothertypesoftemporaryaccommodation)ensuringpropertiesareofgoodstandard,aresuitableandfitforpurpose.

Manageandcoordinatethetimelyhand-backsofleasedaccommodationtotheirownersormanagingagentsandnegotiatenewleasesandrenewalswithagenciesandlandlordsensuringsuitableTAissuppliedthroughprovidersthatsatisfydemandinlinewiththeCouncilsstatutoryprovisionsandmoveonrequirements.

Beselfservingwithrespecttoadministration,caserecordkeepingandotherrelateddutiesandutiliseITsystemstoupdateandrecordinformationrequiredaccordingtoguidanceandestablishedprocedures.

Toundertakeanyotherdutiesappropriatetothegrade,thatmayberequired.Thesemaybevariedfromtimetotimetomeettheneedsoftheservice.

Takeresponsibility,appropriatetothepost,forensuringcompliancewithcouncilpoliciesandproceduresaimedatpromotingandsafeguardingthewelfareofvulnerablechildrenandadults.

Takeresponsibility,appropriatetothepostforpromotingdiversityincludingtacklingracismandgoodrace,ethnic&communityrelations.

Liaiseandworkcloselywithotherpeergroupsacrosshousingandotherdirectoratesthathaveadirectinfluenceonthesectionpromotingajoinedupapproachintheoperationaldeploymentofservices.
