Mechanical Design Engineer with WTW experience required - Perm - Scotland

Search Consultancy is working with a hugely successful client to source a Mechanical Design Engineer with Water Utility experience on a permanent or ongoing contract basis.

Working in a project team on client developed schemes. Delivering mechanical projects on various Water and Wastewater projects ensuring that all works carried out are to a high quality and in line with health and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities, duties and tasks

• Advising & coordinating preconstruction design systems
• Analysis of subcontractor tenders
• Assisting with cost planning, estimation and tendering activities
• Working with a design team
• Working on mechanical designs to improve value management
• Liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
• Co‑coordination of mechanical site delivery

Person Specification

Essential

• MEng or BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Proven experience in a previous mechanical engineering position preferably with experience on projects between £100K - £5M+
• Solid understanding of mechanical discipline in the water sector
• Preconstruction design & cost evaluation
• Design estimation & cost planning
• Knowledge and experience of taking projects from design, through installation to commissioning.
• Client facing skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation & time management skills
• Good presentation skills
• Must be flexible and willing to travel
• Have a thorough knowledge of Health & Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental disciplines
• MSRA
• IOSH Managing safely
