About the role

Astute's Power team is partnered with a market‑leading energy company for the recruitment of an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join their Energy from Waste Power Station in Cardiff, South Wales.

The vital EC&I Engineer role comes with a salary of up to c.£65,000 + Bonus + Overtime + Pension + benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Day‑to‑day management of short‑term and long‑term goals, including preventative maintenance activities to ensure maximum plant availability.
  • Lead the team of EC&I Technicians to ensure maintenance tasks are carried out.
  • Assist in delivering the overall maintenance and engineering strategy, implementing new maintenance techniques and approaches, and managing the EC&I budget.
  • Work alongside Mechanical and Project Engineers to ensure work is appropriately allocated and delivered, and develop the site's CMMS.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets for the EC&I Department.
  • Act as EC&I lead during planned outages, managing specialist contractors on site.
  • Perform the role of Electrical Senior Authorised Person under the company's safety rules.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in line with company safety policies, safety rules and relevant H&S legislation.
  • Deputise for the Engineering Manager when required.

Professional Qualifications

  • Ideally an HNC or similar in Electrical, Electronics, Measurement and Control Engineering.
  • HV SAP/AP experience.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification will be advantageous.

Personal Skills, Qualification and Experience

  • Proven supervisory or management experience in heavy process engineering environments such as Power Generation (Energy from Waste, Biomass, Coal, CCGT, CHP), Paper Mills, COMAH sites, Steelworks, Refineries, etc.
  • Experience in maintaining and working on a variety of instrumentation, electrical and control system equipment (SCADA, PLC, temperature, level, pressure, flow, switch‑gear, motors, variable speed drives, transformers, etc.).
  • Contract management experience.
