A little more about your role:
As a Senior Engineer you will focus on technical and project delivery of energy storage assignments and take a leading position in developing WSP's services in this area.
Your Duties
- Leading and delivering high-quality technical services for feasibility, development, owner's engineer, and technical due diligence assignments focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Experience in utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects.
- Providing technical input to BESS developments at each stage of the project development lifecycle, including their integration with other electrical or generating plants as necessary.
- Training, supervising, and reviewing the work of junior and middle‑level engineers and being responsible for the level of quality of their work.
- Advising clients on the project development and execution processes, including key stages, timescales, and risks.
- Leading and supporting the project and interface management between engineering and environmental disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, control & instrumentation, planning, environmental, etc).
- Drafting and reviewing technical specifications, e.g. employer's requirements, evaluating tenders, and supporting negotiations for the appointments of contractors.
- Carrying out client engagement activities, including reviewing enquiries and preparing proposals for prospective projects.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...
- A degree in a relevant engineering, technical or scientific discipline, preferably a post‑graduation in subjects related to the renewable energy sector,
- An in-depth technical, commercial, and field knowledge regarding BESS technologies and their deployment.
- Strong knowledge of emerging BESS technologies and the international market,
- Strong knowledge of the BESS market and its key clients
- Experience in developing UK utility‑scale sites at any stage (experience from multiple stages would be preferred),
- Capability to manage projects and lead a team of multi‑disciplinary engineers,
- Preferably have "Chartered Engineer" status or l progressing towards achieving Chartered status,
- Ability to engage directly with clients for the delivery of projects and to build positive relationship to support securing future work,
- Attention to detail; ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines.
