Accounts Assistant (Payroll & Management Accounts) Location: Lea Bridge, London (E10) Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Join Our Growing Finance Team Verity Accountants is seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our finance team in Lea Bridge, East London. This is a permanent position best suited to someone with at least 2 years' experience in an accounting role who is looking for long-term career progression within a professional and supportive practice. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our clients' financial operations, with a strong focus on payroll, reconciliations, management accounts, HMRC submissions, and VAT returns. Key Responsibilities * Processing weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time. * Preparing and submitting HMRC payroll submissions (RTI). * Preparing and submitting VAT returns. * Producing management accounts for clients. * Performing bank, supplier, and account reconciliations. * Managing purchase ledger and accounts payable processes. * Processing invoices and supplier payments. * Maintaining accurate financial records using Sage 50, QuickBooks, and other accounting software. * Assisting with month-end and year-end accounting procedures. * Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and accounting standards. About You We're looking for someone who has: * A minimum of 2 years' experience in an Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable, Bookkeeper, Payroll, or similar accounting role. * Strong experience processing payroll. * Experience preparing and submitting HMRC payroll returns (RTI). * Experience completing VAT submissions. * Experience producing management accounts. * Strong experience carrying out bank and account reconciliations. * Experience using Sage 50, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software. * High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills. * The ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently. * An AAT qualification (or studying towards one) is desirable but not essential.
