Deputy Head of Year 11 East London Secondary School September 2026 Start | Full-Time | 08:15am – 4:15pm | 1-Year Fixed-Term Contract Are you an experienced pastoral professional with a passion for supporting young people to achieve their full potential? A high-achieving secondary school in East London is seeking a dedicated and proactive Deputy Head of Year 11 to join the pastoral team from September 2026. The successful candidate will be invited to attend trial days during the current term ahead of the September start date. This role is initially offered on a one-year fixed-term contract, with the potential to be extended for the right candidate. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with Year 11 students during a pivotal stage of their education, supporting attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, and achievement while helping to ensure positive outcomes for all learners. The Role As Deputy Head of Year 11, you will: Support the Head of Year with the day-to-day pastoral leadership of Year 11 students Monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and student welfare Deliver targeted interventions to improve student engagement and outcomes Cover lessons when required Support behaviour management and student reintegration strategies Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff Use SIMS to monitor student data and produce reports Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding procedures Provide strong administrative support to the wider pastoral teamThe Ideal CandidateWe are looking for someone who has: Previous experience working within a school or educational setting Pastoral, safeguarding, behaviour, or student welfare experience Experience covering lessons and running interventions Strong behaviour management skills Experience using SIMS and analysing student data Excellent administrative and organisational abilities Strong communication and relationship-building skills A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeedWhat They Offer Full-time hours: 08:15am – 4:15pm September 2026 start One-year fixed-term contract with potential for extension Opportunity to complete trial days before the end of the current academic year Supportive and experienced leadership team A rewarding role making a real impact on student achievement and wellbeing Ongoing professional development opportunities Interviews and trial days are taking place now.
