About the role

Our client is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (FCA) in the finance & insurance industry to join their in house legal function, providing expert legal advice and support to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

Description

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on regulated and non-regulated contracts, including high-value and strategically important relationships.
  • Working across all areas, ensuring a varied workload and rounded experience (including regulatory aspects of law relating to financial services, including but not limited to insurance, credit hire and consumer credit).
  • Ensuring that advice and support takes account of the client obtaining the maximum commercial advantage from its business relationships, balanced against the regulatory needs, including Consumer Duty.
  • Providing day to day legal advice and support in relation to new business and product ventures, applying commercial and operational thinking holistically. Drawing on both internal and external experience to advise all areas of the business.
  • Supporting day to day management of legal issues in regulated entities and ability to lead on key commercial projects at both a B2C and B2B level.
  • Liaising and collaborating with the Group Risk and Compliance team on regulatory matters.
  • Using knowledge and understanding of the clients relationships and products/services in advice provided, recognising strategic levers and risks across the group from both a regulatory and commercial perspective.

Profile

A successful Senior Legal Counsel should have:

  • UK Qualified with a minimum of 4 years PQE
  • Proven expertise in insurance law and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in regulatory law relating to financial services, including but not limited to insurance, credit hire and consumer credit.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A proactive approach to managing multiple tasks and priorities.
