Maintenance Engineer

Maintenance Engineer Scunthorpe Competitive Salary My client is looking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join their Engineering team at their Scunthorpe waste and recycling facility on a rotating shift pattern to include alternate Saturday mornings. This is a hands‑on role supporting the reliability, safety, and performance of both fixed and mobile plant within a fast‑paced, industrial environment. Working on a rotating shift pattern, you will deliver planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to ensure maximum plant availability and minimal disruption to production. Key Responsibilities * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fixed and mobile plant. * Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns efficiently. * Undertake welding and fabrication work (MIG / ARC or equivalent) to support repairs and plant integrity. * Ensure plant and machinery are available and fully operational during production hours. * Maintain accurate maintenance records, including job cards, photographs, and defect reports. * Record parts usage and support control of critical spares. * Work closely with operational teams to align maintenance activities with production requirements. * Communicate outstanding defects and repairs clearly at shift handover. * Carry out risk assessments prior to commencing maintenance tasks. * Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site safety at all times Experience * Time‑served Maintenance Engineer / Plant Fitter – essential. * Proven welding experience (MIG / ARC or equivalent) – essential. * Experience working on heavy processing plant, both static and mobile. * Knowledge of shredders, trommels, conveyors or similar plant equipment – an advantage. * Strong mechanical fault‑finding and repair capability. * Physically capable of working in an industrial environment, including manual handling
